Joe Bonamassa might just be the biggest blues guitarist of the modern era. For the better part of his career, Joe’s been using Jazz III Picks to blend traditional blues with modern technique for an emotionally resonant range of expressions, from voice-like melodies to shredding runs that fold seamlessly into his compositions.
“I discovered the Jazz III Pick around 1994–95. It’s the one thing I can’t live without.”—Joe Bonamassa
JOE BONAMASSA.
Joe Bonamassa has earned a reputation as a charismatic blues-rock star and singer-songwriter of stylistic depth and emotional resonance. His ability to connect with live concert audiences is transformational. Dunlop is proud to have collaborated with Joe to design several products, from picks to pedals.
The quintessential tonechaser, Joe brings amazing technical skill to from-the-guts blues, and the Jazz III has been an indispensable part of his arsenal for nearly 20 years. While watching an Eric Johnson video, Joe spotted a red pick in Eric’s hand and rushed to a local music store to find it.
Joe describes his signature Cry Baby® Wah—equipped with a Halo Inductor for an incredibly vocal and expressive sound—as “an extension of the guitar as a human voice.”
Another pedal we designed with Joe was his signature Fuzz Face® Distortion. “It sounds great with humbuckers,” Joe told us, “and it’s a very warm and expressive pedal—very smooth on the top end and on the bottom end. It’s perfect for my playing style.”
